I have been playing the saxophone and flute for over 20
years in the Cairns area.
I hold a Diploma of Music, a Certificate IV in Training and
Assessment, (TAE 40110), a current Blue Card, and have Music
Teachers Public and Products liability insurance. I have
studied saxophone and flute in Canada. I am currently
employed part time at Kuranda State College, Peace
Lutheran College in Cairns and Uptown Music Studio's in
Atherton as their Instrumental Music teacher. I have tutored
students in music theory under the ITAS (Indigenous
Tutorial Assistance Scheme) program at Central
Queensland University.
Currently I play with Cairns band "Cool Change". We
perform frequently at the Cairns Jazz Club, at corporate
functions, weddings and resorts. We have performed at
Karnak, Yungaburra Folk Festival, Undara Country Rock
and Blues Festival, Cairns Civic Theatre, the Casino,
Cairns Convention Centre, Sheraton Mirage, Sea Temple,
Sebel and The Angsana.
I enjoy playing and teaching all styles of music, including
Classical, Blues, Rock, Jazz, Folk and Latin, and cater for
students who want to play the saxophone, flute and clarinet
as a hobby as well as those who wish to prepare for
exams. I encourage students to develop performance
skills. My philosophy is that learning music should be an
enjoyable experience resulting in a sense of achievement
for students, parents and teacher
